Mayor Porter at U.S. Steel Announcement

dsc00191copy.jpg

The USPS officials had indicated that they weren't going to re-open the Epes facility. Mayor Walter Porter Sr contacted Congressmen Artur Davis about the matter. Congressman Davis had his Staffer Daryl Perkins to contact the USPS immediately with a phone call followed by a letter. The Congressman expressed the hardship the closing would cause the citizens and businesses in the small rural area. The Mayor of Epes was proud to announce, the Town of Epes Post Office will be renovated and reopened. Mayor Porter went on to say that the Town of Epes sends out a warm thanks to the Congressman Davis and his faithful staffer Mr. Perkins, for saving the much needed facility.
